I guess some of you may think of acquiring a scholarship abroad to study an advanced science or technology. Today I would like to speak with you about some venues to gain a scholarship or training so you could benefit your community in the future.
There are many types of scholarship available; for training, for Master or PhD and for participation in a research or a project. So, first you need to specify what do you exactly want to do!!!. If practical or clinical training is your goal, then you have to start by contacting an expert researcher in your field of interest. After establishing your connection you can either submit an application for a short term scholarship (available in many countries) or you can ask your contact if he/she can help you in gaining an assistant researcher position for 3-6 months in his/her institute (also available in some countries e.g. UK, USA, The Netherlands, Germany and others).
If your aim is gaining a degree either Masters or PhD then you can submit an application online in any country you want. The trick is -in my opinion- not to focus on English speaking countries because the competition will be fierce, instead try non-English speaking countries especially in countries like China and India. Some of you may disagree with me in this concept for many reasons like the language barrier and unknown social cultures. Well...those concerns are the main reason why your chances will be higher because many people will refuse and/or find it difficult to learn languages with completely different alphabet system. Meanwhile, these countries have recently been highly active and advanced especially in the fields of medicine and information technology and I am pretty sure in other fields as well. This kind of scholarships is available annually and you can find specific information about each country in their embassy's website.
Also some funds are available for individuals to apply and others are available for institutions. Institutional funds like FP7 and Tempus can help a large number of scholars at the same time under the same project.
