The road to extinction !!!

Aa Aa Aa

Unfortunately, a lot of glamor and charm are built around games, online communities and media, and a lot of dislike is directed to anything scientific.

Historically, when people visited new places, museums were among the places that attracted their attention. Regrettably, that is not the case anymore, but lets not be so pessimistic and say that some will visit museums. Of course the type of museums you choose to visit will depend on your personality. One of the interesting sorts of museums are science museums; because it is exciting to know the concept behind everything around us.

Among the science museums in Africa is Science, Engineering and Technology museum "Sci-Enza". Sci-Enza was built in South Africa's Pretoria University in 1977. The museum was made to increase the students' awareness of science. Sci-Enza is an interactive museum applying the concept of "play-as-you -learn" technique.

Another science museum in Africa is in the "Bibliotheca Alexandrina" or the library of Alexandria in Egypt. The "Planetarium Science Center" in the library is an educational aid too, where one can watch movies about different scientific disciplines and attend many hands-on workshops, science camps, RoboAlex center and a lot of contests, journeys and programs.

Optimistically, students find science museum activities more appealing than the traditional systems of education. Thus, interactive teaching is -of course- the key to a better education. It is not the amount the students learn per academic year, it is how much of this information will transform in their heads to applicable science in their lives.

Knowing the great influence of the early years of education on the students' lives, I suggest that more care should be given to science fairs, contests and museums. These methods will be more interesting than an ordinary classroom setting. Moreover, contests and camps will help improve the use of the arts of logic, deduction and also promote sharp observation, which will eventually help in creating smarter and more practical communities.

Teachers, families and scientists have the moral obligation to rescue humans from the "digital monsters" in our lives. We can promote for the idea of using your brain for analysis and not the calculator or a computer, go outdoors and play football with your friends and do not play videogames, have real friends, not online friends, go to science museums and do not surf the internet for a quick info...

Computers, videogames, internet ....these are the very powerful, time-losing and mind-erasing tools and trust me their effects are undeniable. The soul dependence on a computer-based life style, will most definitely take the whole human race to extinction.

The only reason that we lasted till now is our intelligence. The way I see how people are giving up their brains and distrusting their intelligence is very disturbing and it became very obvious recently. People are trusting softwares with their lives and are willing to give up real people for avatars. It is time to save ourselves and our families from this "artificial intelligence invasion" !!!
