Welcome to Africa

Aa Aa Aa

Hello and Welcome to Scitable's new Forum "Science in Africa"!!

My name is "Doaa Tawfik" I live in Africa and I am a proud African. Much of the world is not aware that there are thriving science communities on the African continent. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to begin a forum here on Scitable.com that will showcase and discuss issues of African science, by focusing on emerging trends in research and education.

Yes......Africa does have Science!! Despite Africa's problems and struggles, it fights for its place in the scientific community. In all fields of life you will find that Africa has its share, here in our new forum, I will pin point some of that for you.

We will discuss everything AFRICA. We will discuss languages, top universities, projects, research interests, top organizations, conferences.... you name it. And I will give you updates about what is going on, and you as the forum members can share your own updates about what is happening in your region of Africa. I want this forum to include everyone, African or not! We all have a lot to learn about each other, and we want to unite around the issues of science that are both unique to African countries and universal to all.

When one thinks Africa, they think the wild life, beautiful nature, safari and adventure but rarely does one think of science. Our aim here with the Science in Africa Forum is not to change that, but to elaborate on the understanding of Africa. YES !!! , we do have the wild life, beautiful nature....etc , but we also have scientific communities that are learning, teaching and discovering.

So come joins us, listen to our discussions, add your perspective. I do not represent all of Africa of course, rather, I mean to share the discussion with all those interested. I would love to have your added voices in our forum. Please, come share what you know and help us build a good discussion about what's going on.

I will be very happy if you decided to join us and share, I will try to show you my Africa, BUT feel free to share with us your Africa as well. If you are not African, we will be greatly interested in your inquires.... collaborations and networking are some of the most valuable things we can create here!!.... please share your mind with us!!

You can also watch our video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n3-s-udPyA
