African Ministerial Council on Science and Technology

Aa Aa Aa

Hello!!!

The African Ministerial Council on Science and Technology (AMCOST) is one of the official parties concerned with African Scientific development for the implementation of Africa Science and Technology in a consolidated action plan. It was established in 2003 by the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) in collaboration with the African Union (AU). NEPAD is a framework for Africa's renewal and is designed to address important issues facing Africa.

AMCOST is aimed for developing policies and setting priorities for scientific development in Africa. AMCOST is implementing many projects and programs to incorporate Africa with rest of the world. Programs include improving infrastructures, increasing the human skills and promoting the scientific funding among many other promising goals.

AMCOST is not only aiming at regulating science and technology in Africa, but also at encouraging the African scientists to collaborate on a personal level. AMCOSTnet network is an online community for all interested scientists and researchers. This network provides a forum for the scientists to exchange information and opinions and also promotes science through the public media. You can join AMCOSTnet network right now and meet your peers in other African countries through AMCOST website.

Among the flagship programs of AMCOST is establishing "African Institute of Space Science". AMCOST wants to build an institute that incorporates most of the African countries to help develop their human resources as well as harness their funding resources and capabilities for a better future for African space science. AMCOST space program is one of the council's research and development programs that are currently under consideration by some of the major African stakeholders.

You can also read the council's action plan, regular reports and the updated news.

─ Cheers !!
