We present a collection of articles to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nature Reviews Cardiology in November 2014. A series of Decade in Review articles from key opinion leaders summarize the major advances in eight subspecialties of cardiology over the past 10 years. In a comprehensive Perspectives article, our founding editor-in-chief, Dr Valentin Fuster, selects the 10 most promising cardiovascular therapies currently being developed. Finally, in a Viewpoint article, we ask five of our Advisory Board members from around the globe to discuss an area of cardiology about which we know too little, and how future research efforts should be targeted to improve our understanding. These articles, together with a special infographic, provide an authoritative snapshot of cardiovascular medicine in 2014, and how the field might progress over the next 10 years.
