Sueharu Horinouchi 1952-2009
The July issue of The Journal of Antibiotics features the article "Enzymatic Synthesis of Bis-5-alkylresorcinols by resorcinol-producing type III polyketide synthases". We are sad to announce that the author, Professor Sueharu Horinouchi of the University of Tokyo, passed away in Tokyo on the 12th July 2009 at the age of 57. He was an outstanding scholar and tireless member of the Editorial Board of The Journal of Antibiotics. He will be greatly missed.
As one of the newest additions to the NPG portfolio, The Journal of Antibiotics is proud to present the Editor's Choice - a collection of articles spanning the scope of the journal and featuring these five topics: new anti-infective substances; structure determination/chemical synthesis; new bioactive substances (other than anti-infective); microbial genetics/biosynthesis; and microbiology/fermentation/resistance.
From January 2009, Nature Publishing Group begins publishing The Journal of Antibiotics on behalf of the Japan Antibiotics Research Association.
