Gastrointestinal Cancers

Malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract are a source of considerable morbidity, mortality and cost throughout the world. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in American men and women, and gastric carcinoma is the fifth most common malignancy worldwide.

The editors of Modern Pathology are pleased to present a selection of recent papers that focus on the diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers from top international researchers in anatomic and molecular pathology. We present studies on prognostic markers of colorectal cancer and classification of gastric carcinoma, as well as research on the pathobiology of less common conditions such as colorectal mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma, small intestinal adenocarcinoma and gastroblastoma.
