Abstract
N-HALOGENIMIDES have been extensively used in preparative organic chemistry during the past few years1. We have attempted to elucidate the mechanism of the reaction of N-chlorosuccinimide on toluene, in which the simplicity of the reagents and products appeared to be particularly suitable for such a study.
