My name is Samantha and it is a great honor to write for one of the most prominent science publishers in the world. Not many people my age get an opportunity like this and I am extremely grateful.
My interest in blogging came about when my biology teacher, Ms. Baker, introduced us to her blog, Extreme Biology. It became an assignment for us to either write posts for the blog or write comments on the posts that were published on the blog. I knew right from the start that I liked blogging because when I was doing research for my very first post, I thought it was shocking how I found the research and the writing to be pleasurable and fun. Usually, schoolwork is boring and tedious, but blogging is enjoyable and you learn a lot while doing so. I also found it to be a very good way to communicate with my peers because maybe I will write a post that will inform them about things they never knew before, like new discoveries in paleontology or about studies that have shown Vitamin B could help prevent Alzheimer's disease.
My topics for Green Science are going to deal with global warming and other environmental issues. Many people know that global warming is happening right before our eyes, but a lot of people, especially children, don't exactly know why. My posts are going to give readers tips on how they can help reduce their carbon footprint, recycle certain objects and why, and how they can volunteer in their community.
Hopefully, my blog will help stress the importance of global warming and will inspire many people to get on their feet and help with the effort to clean up our planet.

That's how I got started as Graduate student studying for a Masters degree in biology! Been doing it for 4 years now! It makes a difference when you write for yourself and choose what to write about.
Looking forward to reading about your perspective! Drop me a line if you have any questions about the ocean or want me to look at any posts of yours in particular.
Cheers
Bora
