Dear Readers,
It is with great sadness that I announce the discontinuation of Scitable. As of September 17, I will no longer be able to blog for Green Science.
While I am disappointed by this decision, I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to write for such a reputable blogging platform for close to six years. Since joining the network as a fourteen-year-old high school freshman back in 2011, I have learned from some of the best writers in the world, and have, as a result, been able to progressively define and refine my own unique writing style. I am happy that I was able to document this growth through my posts.
In addition to improving my writing skills, blogging has taught me invaluable research skills. I have learned to delve into and dissect published journal articles, question and analyze sources, and fully immerse myself in a subject in order to gain the most comprehensive outlook and come up with rational conclusions. Through such research, I was able to not only educate you, my readers, on the subject of climate change, but also myself. In this way, we were on the journey to learn more about this global phenomenon together.
Additionally, from January 2015- September 2016, I used the blogging skills I gained from Green Science to write the column, Millennial Musings, for the blog, EcoPlum.
As this stage in my blogging career comes to an end tonight, I would like to thank everybody who helped me get to this point. Thank you to my 9th-grade biology teacher, Ms. Stacy Baker, now Mrs. Kunst, for introducing me to blogging through our class blog, Extreme Biology. Thank you to Ilona Miko, the ex-Managing Editor for Nature Publishing Group, for championing young voices and giving me the opportunity to write for Scitable. To Sabrina and all my friends that I have bailed on because, "I have to write a blogggg," thank you for understanding (or, at least, putting up with me!) and continuing to ring my doorbell. Thank you to my grandma for figuring out how to use the Internet in order to read and praise my posts. Lastly, I would like to thank my dad for being my number one fan. The sacrifices he makes and his utter devotion to my happiness and success are the reasons that I am able to do what I love every day-- whether that be blogging for Green Science, studying at Barnard, or playing the piano. Thank you.
In my welcome blog post back in 2011, I wrote, "Hopefully, my blog will help stress the importance of global warming and will inspire many people to get on their feet and help with the effort to clean up our planet." I hope that, during these last six years, I was able to do just this.
