Updates & Corrections

  • Correction 07 March 2020: An earlier version of this article mistakenly said some swabs collected by Helen Chu’s lab were collected from cheeks. They are collected from noses. It also said that the Seattle Flu Study was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In fact, it is funded by Gates Ventures, an investment firm founded by Bill Gates. The Gates Foundation has provided funds for the study’s extension to COVID-19.
