PLANTS IN DENTISTRY SERIES: MISWAK, SALVADORA PERSICA

The cover images in volume 218 all feature botanical illustrations of plants and trees with a connection to dentistry – some from the past and a selection still used in present times. This cover features miswak, which is a teeth cleaning twig made from the Salvadora persica tree. Traditionally, miswak has been used as an alternative to the modern toothbrush.
