There is no doubt that complying with the necessary guidance and regulations applicable to dental practice can seem a daunting task but there's no need to panic: help is at hand from DBG.

DBG has been working alongside dental practices for 25 years, so understands your practice requirements. DBG's success has been, and continues to be, based on developing dental specific services while remaining flexible to individual practice needs. With over 5,000 members across 7,000 practices, DBG offers a complete solution, allowing you to focus on what you do best.

The key to achieving compliance in every area of dental practice is to be prepared and organised, and to have a team that communicates effectively. The team at DBG can help you with this and so much more, reducing your stress levels and getting your practice on track for success.

In training

DBG offers a range of training courses that cover core CPD subjects. From Basic Life Support and Medical Emergencies to COSHH and Legionella Awareness, many of these courses can be held at your premises, led by a trainer with dental experience who understands how a practice works.

In addition, some of DBG's more specialised courses such as Radiography and Safeguarding are presented at centralised locations nationwide, and over 400 hours of online CPD are offered to be taken wherever and whenever you like.

Other courses available include: Infection Prevention and Control, AED and Specialist Equipment, Basic Fire Safety Awareness and Fire Marshal, and Manual Handling and Dental Ergonomics.

Safety first

DBG also has your compliance needs covered, offering complete peace of mind; for example, DBG offers members a free cloud-based application that fully encompasses the needs of the dental professional, including the CQC essential standards of quality and safety, and fundamental standards.

DBG will guide and assist you through the processes needed to achieve compliance and provide you with a dedicated advisor. This tried and tested combination makes the process a great deal smoother, leaving you and your team free to do what you do best.

On offer are courses on health and safety, enabling you to learn about your responsibilities and the health and safety arrangements that should be in place, in order to comply with the law and fulfil your 'duty of care'.

Needlestick injuries

Did you know that, according to a recent survey carried out by the British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) (available at http://bit.ly/1yPLcnL), over half of respondents had suffered a needlestick injury (51.17%), with 60% of those having had more than one injury and 11% experiencing a needlestick injury in the last year? What's more, 1.24% acquired a blood-borne virus as a result of the injury. Thankfully, 97.35% of respondents who had needlestick injuries knew what to do in terms of treatment and reporting. It is courses like DBG's Introduction to Health and Safety that help to ensure the safety of both the dental team and patients.

Things are always changing; for example, the CQC regulations have recently been updated and practices registered with the CQC in England must be aware of them and demonstrate compliance. The 28 Outcomes previously used/known now fall into 13 Fundamental Standards and new categories. Dental teams will have quite a lot of work to do to update their policies to reflect the new standards but DBG is ideally placed to help, with CQC Workshops and practice assessments incorporating the Fundamental Standards.

As an outsourced healthcare provider with full nationwide coverage, DBG really can be a part of your team. Let DBG be your training and regulation solution, so you can get on with looking after your patients.
