The cover shows a congested lung with a dilated pulmonary vein and blood-filled alveoli. The light microscopic image with H&E staining is shown on top, and its corresponding acoustic image is on the bottom. The speed of sound was greater through vascular smooth muscle and blood-filled alveoli than through normal alveoli. For more information see the paper by Miura and Yamamoto on page 1760.
