Nature Communications, Communications Medicine and Scientific Reports are launching an open call for papers to support and showcase research related to all aspects of health in Africa. We aim to promote high-quality research that advances our understanding of health issues in Africa, and advocates for better healthcare on the continent in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and specifically, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We acknowledge the diversity in geography, culture, economy and governance structures that impact health on the continent and we encourage submissions that are focused on both intra- and inter- regional health.
We are particularly interested in receiving original research submissions that cover the following topics:
non-communicable diseases and communicable diseases, including neglected tropical diseases and multi-morbidity
antimicrobial resistance
mental health
health outcomes associated with rapid urbanisation, and lifestyle-related changes due to economic circumstances
healthy ageing
reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health
food insecurity, malnutrition, and undernutrition
health inequalities
health economics, health systems, and the health workforce
climate change and the impacts on health
health technology development
In addition to original research, we are open to receiving other article types, such as Reviews, Perspectives, and Comments that offer significant insights into these topics. We are particularly interested in receiving original research and commentary from authors based in Africa.
