The RESTORE RCT enrolled 288 patients with mild-to-moderate radiographic knee OA. “We found PRP resulted in clinically meaningful improvements in knee pain over 12 months; however, these improvements were no greater than those observed in people who received saline injections,” reports co-lead author Kade Paterson. “There was also no benefit of PRP over saline for 12-month change in cartilage thinning, and there was no additional improvement with PRP over saline on 29 of our 31 clinical and structural secondary outcomes.”
