Abstract
WE recently reported1 that a growth-inhibitory substance (‘dormin’) from sycamore leaves is identical with abscisin II, an abscission-accelerating substance obtained from young cotton fruits. Addicott et al.2 have proposed the structure (I) for abscisin II. We have now confirmed this structure by synthesis.
