Abstract

THE determination of the degree of polymerization of polyamides or polypeptides by end-group titration is, in effect, a determination of the amount of the weakly acidic carboxyl group (dissociation constant K2) in presence of a large excess of the base of a stronger acid, the amide or peptide group (dissociation constant K1).
