Cimmino et al., who published in Cell, used mouse models with inducible or reversible short hairpin RNA (shRNA)-mediated Tet2 knockdown, in haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs), to investigate whether restoration of TET2 expression could potentially benefit patients with myeloid malignancies. Additionally, Agathocleous et al., who published in Nature, investigated how physiological variations of intracellular metabolite levels in stem cells in vivo can influence stem cell fate. They developed a metabolomics method to measure metabolites enriched in freshly isolated haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) and multipotent progenitor (MPP) cell populations, compared with restricted haematopoietic progenitor cell populations, and evaluated their role in haematological malignancies.
