We are delighted to read Professor Dua’s response [1], as it is common knowledge that his work is the source of the entire discourse and most of the body of literature concerning the novel predescemetic corneal layer. Although not part of our submission, we are grateful to him for the helpful inclusion of the additional paper [2]. Our focus remained on commercially accessible tomography equipment that modern ophthalmologists use in clinical practice; hence we did not come across the modified version/prototype that Bizheva et al. utilised.

The primary objective of our communication was motivated by the fact that a scan picture resembling the one we are discussing was not typical in our routine clinical practice. We have noticed a similar phenomenon in a small number of patients, particularly elderly persons with corneal endothelial degeneration. This association has not been previously documented in the medical literature. Notably, younger patients or individuals without any corneal abnormalities did not exhibit these distinct alterations.
