Abstract
A review of the literature reveals that there is little conclusive evidence that DNA of homologous human chromosomes replicates synchronously. This means that final identification of morphologically similar chromosome pairs by autoradiography as well as the association of particular chromosomes with specific human disease syndromes, genetic loci or abnormal genetic interchanges are still only tentative.
