Acute coronary syndromes are sudden episodes of reduced or no blood flow and therefore oxygen delivery to part of the heart, usually as a result of narrowing or blockage of an artery. The lack of oxygenation of the heart muscle, known as myocardial ischaemia, results in death of heart tissue.

A longitudinal study of the association between attending cultural events and coronary heart disease

Johansson et al. examine the association between exposure to culture events and coronary heart disease (CHD) in an adult cohort of the Swedish population over a 36-year period. Cultural participation showed a graded association, with higher exposure associated with lower risk of CHD.
