Maternal, newborn and reproductive health in low-and middle-income and fragile settings

This Collection aims to publish the latest research and advances in maternal, newborn, and reproductive health care, with a particular emphasis on low- and middle-income countries and humanitarian and fragile settings. The launch of this Collection coincides with the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference 2023 in Cape Town.

The topics will include, but are not limited to:

  • Pregnancy care and management of obstetric complications
  • Prevention and treatment of infections in pregnancy
  • Vaccination in pregnant women and neonates
  • Care of sick, preterm, and/or low birthweight neonates
  • Fertility, family planning, and contraception
  • HIV and sexually transmitted infections
  • Gender-based violence, especially in humanitarian settings
  • Mental health, including peri- and post-partum mood disorders
  • Respectful maternal and newborn care
  • Related adolescent health care issues

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3.

If accepted for publication, an article processing charge applies (with standard waiver policy). If your institution or country has an open access agreement with Springer Nature, you may publish your article OA at no cost or in some cases with the costs partially funded (see details here).

All Collections are open for submissions from all authors – and not by invitation only – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of npj Women’s Health more generally.

Manuscripts submitted to an open Collection may be considered unsuitable for inclusion, particularly if they fall outside the scope of the Collection. In such cases, the authors will be notified by the editorial office and their manuscript can be considered as a regular npj Women’s Health submission.

npj Women’s Health’s in-house editors reserve the right to assume responsibility for the management of a Collection at any stage.
