The term “green chemistry” was introduced in the early 1990s by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to indicate “the design of chemical products and processes that minimize or eliminate the use or generation of substances hazardous to humans, animals, plants, and the environment.” Inherently driven by principles of environment protection and sustainability, green chemistry and green engineering plays an essential role in achieving sustainable development goals towards a sustainable and healthy economy, society, and environment.

This Collection gathers the latest advances towards the development and implementation of green and sustainable chemistry and engineering principles throughout the chemical enterprise.
