The Data in Emergencies (DIEM) Hub for evaluating multiple shock impacts on food security

DIEM involves data collection activities, data analyses, validation, and the dissemination of evidence on shocks and livelihoods in countries prone to multiple shocks. The DIEM Hub provides access to data from more than 26 countries, regularly fielded from approximately 150,000 households per year, encompassing approximately 150 indicators collected multiple times per year, with the ability to disaggregate findings according to subnational administrative areas.

DIEM survey methodology is both standardized and flexible. Data are collected through phone and in-person household surveys and are organized under thematic areas that address income and shocks, crops and livestock production, food security, and an assessment of household-level needs and assistance received. Surveys consist of a core set of indicators and the overall comparability of the data is maintained, yet the survey is flexible and provides space for supplementary questions.
