In the version of this Article originally published, in Fig. 3b (left) the bar length was mistakenly doubled for each region; the bars have now been amended, and accordingly the x-axis range corrected to read –1 to 5 instead of –2 to 10.
In addition, in the second paragraph of the section ‘Effects on food and nutrition security’, the sentence ‘Overall, the number of people at risk of hunger in sub-Saharan Africa may decline by more than 1 million people in the most severe ASF scenario’ should have read ‘Overall, the number of people at risk of hunger in sub-Saharan Africa may decline by more than half a million people in the most severe ASF scenario’. This has now been corrected.
