Waste and sustainability: An aligned philosophy?

Orthodontics with clear aligners have become very popular during the last 20 years. Today, more than 12.2 million patients have been treated with Invisalign and many dental companies have developed their own clear aligner systems, like Spark, SureSmile, SLX Aligners to compete with Invisalign.1

Clear aligners are very attractive and offer certain advantages, both to patients and orthodontists. The main aligner companies offer an almost identical system concerning production and distribution: the orthodontist takes photos, radiographs and models of their patient and sends them to the aligner company together with a prescription of the treatment goals.
