Correction to: Journal of Human Genetics (2009) 54, 47–55; doi: 10.1038/jhg.2008.2; published online 9 January 2009

It has come to our attention that the data in the Table 1 of the above article contained incorrect numbers. The number of samples (N) given against mentioned population groups should read as: Punjab Brahmin (N=28), Himachal Brahmin (N=19), Uttar Pradesh (South) Kols (N=54), Uttar Pradesh (South) Gonds (N=37), Madhya Pradesh Gonds (N=64), West Bengal Brahmins (N=18) and Maharashtra Brahmins (N=30). A total of 631 samples were screened, instead of 621 mentioned earlier in the published paper.

Table 1 Y-haplogroups percentage distribution in studied regional population groups of India

In Table 1, some of the percentage values for the mentioned haplogroups in Madhya Pradesh Saharia should read as: F*=5.27; H*=10.52; H1=22.8; L=3.51 and R2=5.3. In Gujarat Brahmins, the percentages should be C5=3.13 and E=3.13. Corrected table is shown below.

The Authors apologize for these inadvertent errors.
