One in ten US residents sit for more than eight hours per day — and are inactive when not sitting.

Sitting has been labelled ‘the new smoking’ on account of its harmful health effects. A survey reveals that one in four people in the United States spend more than 8 hours a day on their behinds — with one in ten both sitting for more than 8 hours daily and performing no beneficial physical activity.
