Abstract
ORGAN cultures of mammalian lung primordium can acquire essentially all the adult cellular elements together with their chemical characteristics1–6. Several chemical carcinogens have been shown to induce neoplastic development in mouse lungs in vivo7. Here we show that 3,4-benzo(a)pyrene interferes with the normal development and differentiation of foetal mouse lung buds in vitro.
