ATP Assay of Terrestrial Soils: A Test of an Exobiological Experiment

Abstract

The ATP content of twenty-five terrestrial soil samples was estimated by the firefly luciferase assay to range from 8 × 10−3 to 1.2 × 10−1 µg/g of soil. The firefly assay is a feasible tool for exobiological work.
