Abstract
SEVERAL low molecular weight methylated RNA species1 in Chinese hamster cells are distinct from tRNA, 5S rRNA, and 7S rRNA and, in addition, three of them contain a nucleoside not previously reported. We now present evidence that this unknown nucleoside, which is absent from cytoplasmic tRNA and the ribosomal RNA, is N2,N2,7-trimethylguanosine.
