Abstract
THE influence of glucocorticoids on the activities of certain enzymes and the part they play in regulating the metabolism of various mammalian tissues have become increasingly evident in recent years1,2. Harding et al.3 reported that during the early growth of Walker carcinoma 256 daily treatments with cortisone increased alanine (glutamate-pyruvate) transaminase activity from its depressed level in the host liver of rats. They also mentioned that the treatment inhibited tumour growth by 68 per cent.
