Preparing Dispersions of Zinc Oxide Particles for Electronmicroscopic Investigation

Abstract

PARTICLES of a zinc oxide powder cluster together due to the electrostatic forces acting between the individual particles. These clusters can be reduced to a minimum by the technique described here, and a homogeneous distribution of the particles is obtained throughout the sample. This homogeneous distribution is almost a necessity for the investigation of the grain-size distribution of the zinc oxide powder, utilizing microscopic techniques, as it reduces the time involved in the counting procedure.
