Natural Occurrence of Leptospira icterohæmorrhagiæ in the Eastern Grey Fox and the Eastern Raccoon

Abstract

PREVIOUS investigations of wild life in the United States have established the grey fox and the raccoon as natural hosts of leptospires. Leptospira ballum1, L. australis A2, and L grippotyphosa2 have been isolated from the grey fox. Leptospira ballum1, L. pomona1, L. australis A3, L. grippotyphosa2, L. autumnalis4, and L. mini-Georgia5 have been isolated from the raccoon.
