Abstract
IT was stated by Scott1 that in a given area of river bottom large stones will cover a greater area of bottom than small stones (if it is assumed that all stones are equally spaced and of similar shape). The relationship between the covered bottom and size of stone is not, however, a simple linear one and it seems desirable to demonstrate this relationship.
