Abstract
IN view of the availability of thiophene-2-aldehyde, 3-methylthiophene-2-aldehyde, 5-methylthiophene-2-aldehyde, 5-ethylthiophene-2-aldehyde, 5-propylthiophene-2-aldehyde, and 5-chlorothiophene-2-aldehyde1, it was decided to prepare their azlactones, since these compounds serve as useful derivatives and intermediates for further syntheses.
