The Chromosome Micelle and the Banded Structure of Chromosomes in the Salivary Gland

Abstract

GREAT interest has been aroused in cytological circles by the discovery that individual chromosomes in the salivary glands of Drosophila, Sciara, Chironomus… may be characterised by successions of light and dark bands and regions which are arranged in definite patterns1.
