On an Apparently Distinctive Character of the Genus Bufo

Abstract

ON p. 38 of Mr. G. A. Boulenger's valuable work on the “Tailless Batrachia of Europe” it is stated of the vertebral column of the Anura that “In those forms in which the vertebr. are proculous the eighth is biconcave; the ninth being invariably biconvex.“ The same statement appears in the “Amphibia and Reptile” volume of the Cambridge Natural History, published some four years later (1901).
