About the author
Martin Hülskamp
Martin Hülskamp studied biology in Kaiserslautern and Tübingen, Germany, and finished his diploma degree in 1988. He went on to obtain a Ph.D. in 1991 with D. Tautz at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU), Munich, Germany, working on early pattern formation in Drosophila melanogaster. After postdoctoral training with G. Jürgens at the LMU on trichome development in Arabidopsis thaliana and with R. Pruitt at Harvard University, Boston, USA, on gametophyte development, he joined the laboratory of G. Jürgens at the Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, as a group leader in 1994. In 1998 he became a group leader of a group funded by the Volkswagenstiftung at the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP) at Eberhard Karls University. Since 2000 he is a full professor at the Botanical Institute, University of Köln, Germany. Dr. Hülskamp's research programme is directed towards the analysis of several developmental aspects of trichome development including early pattern formation, the analysis of branching and the regulation of actin-dependent growth processes.
