The Translational Research Informatics Center is a key research institution of the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster (KBIC) and is recognized as the national strategic centre for health care. The centre is dedicated to the promotion of translational research and clinical excellence in Japan, as well as in the rest of the world. TRI was jointly set up by Kobe City and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2002. TRI will celebrate its 15th anniversary next year.
TRI is a specialized agency for clinical research, it builds clinical research networks and distributes evidence-based medical information. TRI developed the national medical framework, established the university-based Academic Research Organization (ARO) and has collaborated with the Japanese government’s Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). TRI has accelerated the formation of its global alliance network in Asia, Europe, the United States and other areas. With its partners, TRI is now promoting the development of regenerative medicine globally.
