Editor's choice: World Hepatitis Day

Eradicating viral hepatitis by 2030 is a WHO imperative and forms a key component of the Good Health and Well-Being Sustainable Development Goal. As well as a debilitating disease in its own right, hepatitis is also strongly associated with progression to cirrhosis and cancer of the liver. Recent research has focussed on identification and validation of diagnostic and prognostic hepatitis markers, investigated the physiological effects of hepatitis, developed therapeutic strategies and studied the epidemiology of hepatitis disease.

This Collection marks World Hepatitis Day by bringing together some of our recently published original research articles on each of these topics from within the clinical and life sciences research domains.
