Extrasolar planets or exoplanets are planets outside our Solar System. First confirmed in the early 1990s, they have increasingly attracted research attention in the field of astronomy. At present, driven by the latest advances in astronomy instrumentation, more than 5000 exoplanets have been discovered. Telescopes, both ground-based and those in space, have played an essential role in the study of these planets. The recently launched James Webb Space Telescope is a milestone development, and is expected to deliver extraordinary results that will have a strong impact on exoplanets research, as well as on our understanding of the universe.

This Collection seeks to bring together original research on exoplanets, including the latest advances in the astronomy instrumentations which are required for their study.
