Heart Your Smile, a campaign to inspire confidence in dentistry and help dental teams engage their local communities and patients, celebrated its first birthday at an event in London in September.

On an informal evening attended by dental professionals and members of the dental press, Heart Your Smile trustees Simon Gambold, Seema Sharma and James Goolnik (pictured, left to right) gave presentations and thanked supporters of the campaign.

Heart Your Smile was formulated by a group of dental professionals and industry leaders taking a stand against 'the doom and gloom and negativity' dentistry has experienced in recent years. Launched at BDTA Showcase in 2011, it outlines a nine-point manifesto for change in the UK dental profession, dubbed The nine habits of a happy dental professional, and is designed to instill confidence and inspiration in the dental profession.

James, who initiated the idea, said, 'Heart Your Smile is about providing dental professionals with the right tools to ensure patients have a positive experience at the dentist and to encourage regular attendance.'
