New data demonstrate that the use of inflatable penile prostheses impregnated with minocycline/rifampin for device replacement surgery decreases the rate of secondary infection. Only 2.5% of men who received an antibiotic-impregnated implant (n = 9,300) underwent secondary infection-related revision, compared to 3.7% of those who received a nonimpregnated device (n = 1,764) over 6.6 years of follow-up.
