Face-lift for the Dental Elf

The Dental Elf (http://www.thedentalelf.net/), a regular on-line blog which aims to highlight the latest high quality evidence for dentists, has just had a make-over. The Dental Elf is one of a series of Elves that have been developed over the past 18 months to develop a National Elf Service (http://www.nationalelfservice.net/). The face-lift brings the design of the various Elf sites together with a coherent design, and marks the next stage of the National Elf Services development.

Currently there are eight Elves

  • The Commissioning Elf

  • The Dental Elf

  • The Diabetes Elf

  • The Education Elf

  • The Learning Disabilities Elf

  • The Lifestyle Elf

  • The Mental Elf

  • The Musculoskeletal Elf

The development of the National Elf Service is being led by Minervation Ltd., (http://www.minervation.com/) an evidence-based health care consultancy company.

TRIP Database upgrades

The TRIP database (http://www.tripdatabase.com/), an excellent searching resource, has just released its latest upgrade. It now includes better linking to full text via PubMed Central and over a 110 institutions that have already registered with TRIP. For institutional linking, first they must be registered and second you need to edit your profile to tell them which institution. It has also institutes a developing world filter with a view to highlighting relevant content. However, this element is a work in progress. Users who have a DynaMed subscription can now search DynaMed via TRIP and finally a new case reports section has been added.
