  Genomic deletion of Bcl6 differentially affects conventional dendritic cell subsets and compromises Tfh/Tfr/Th17 cell responses

  Conventional dendritic cells are playing a pivotal role at the interface of innate and adaptive immunity, but they are a heterogenous group regarding function and regulation. Here, the authors show that although Bcl6-deficiency does not regulate general DC subset identity, Bcl6 expression is required for a specific subset of type 2 DCs in mice, resulting in impaired T helper cell responses and further clarifying molecular players driving DC subset heterogeneity.

  Immune synapse formation promotes lipid peroxidation and MHC-I upregulation in licensed dendritic cells for efficient priming of CD8⁺ T cells

  CD4⁺ T cells have been shown to be important in CD8⁺ T cell responses through a process of DC:T cell interaction. Here the authors further characterise this DC:T cell interaction and show that after CD4⁺ T cell help these post-synaptic DCs have increased lipid peroxidation and increased MHC class I proteins associated with increased cross-presentation function.

  The transcription factor Zeb1 controls homeostasis and function of type 1 conventional dendritic cells

  Type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1) play a pivotal role in the cross-presentation of antigens, enabling efficient CD8 + T cell response.   CD4⁺ helper T cells endow cDC1 with cancer-impeding functions in the human tumor micro-environment

  The presence of classical type 1 dendritic cells (cDC1) positively influences prognosis in cancer, but their intricate networking with the various T cell types found in the tumour microenvironment is not fully appreciated. Here the authors show that cDC1 encounter with CD4⁺ helper T-cells transforms their gene expression signature, and these “helped” dendritic cells enable the function of anti-tumour cytotoxic T-cells.

  Axl is a TAM receptor that can inhibit Toll-like receptor (TLR) -induced pro-inflammatory production by dendritic cells (DC).
