NPP-Digital Psychiatry and Neuroscience (DPN) is offering an opportunity to waive the article processing charge (APC) for new investigators who recently established their independent research programs and wish to publish their manuscript in DPN. DPN’s current APC is £1490/$2090/€1790.

Eligibility: To be eligible to apply, you must be a new investigator who established an independent research program in academia, government, or industry within the last 5 years. The manuscript proposed for submission to DPN must cover your independent line of research, although it is not necessary for all data in the manuscript to have been generated in your independent laboratory.

Instructions: To apply for this award, eligible investigators must submit information about their research program and manuscript in preparation. Only original research articles that align with the scope of DPN will be considered. Applications must be submitted with the new investigator as the senior/corresponding author on the manuscript. To apply, send an inquiry addressed to dpnjournal@acnp.org and provide the following information:

  1. Manuscript title
  2. List of authors and their institutional affiliations
  3. Manuscript abstract
  4. A short statement (<250 words) describing 1) when your independent research program was established, 2) how the studies described in the manuscript align with fields supported by DPN, 3) whether experiments described in the manuscript are complete, and 4) an estimate of when you anticipate submitting this manuscript.

Deadline: Applications must be submitted by June 1st, 2024.

If selected for this award, you must submit your manuscript within 6 months of receiving the waiver.

Priority will be given to manuscripts that align with the scope of the journal and demonstrate scientific rigor and innovation. A committee of DPN Editors will review applications and select several to proceed with submission with an APC waiver, after which manuscripts will undergo the standard peer review process. Selection for the waiver does not guarantee acceptance of the manuscript. The APC waiver cannot be transferred to other manuscripts.
