The grand challenges of our time are primarily of a societal nature. Physics methods and approaches play an increasingly central role in improving our understanding of these challenges and in helping to find innovative solutions. This Collection is dedicated to interdisciplinary research with physics at the helm, which aims to pave the way towards better organizations and policies, and ultimately towards a more sustainable future.

If you are using quantitative methodologies at the interface with the social sciences and humanities you may be interested in the ‘Quantitative Methodologies: Novel Applications in the Humanities and Social Sciences' Collection at our sister publication, Humanities & Social Sciences Communications, an open access journal. Find out how to submit your paper to that Collection on this page.
