Health disparities

Health disparities or health inequalities are preventable differences in health outcomes in groups or populations as a result of social structure, access to services and infrastructure, disease burden, and lifestyle and habit. The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted how such disparities had adverse effects on disease outcomes calling for clinical research to take these kinds of considerations when advocating for treatment of diseases. In support of bringing such research to the forefront, Scientific Reports welcomes submissions to a Collection on Health disparities. The collection welcomes primary research on health inequity including disparities accentuated by gender, race and ethnicity, health in LMICs, healthcare inequity and bias and finally combating health disparities towards health equity. The collection welcomes epidemiology studies, systematic reviews, interventional and clinical studies addressing topics of health disparities including studies on health disparities itself.
